- Abstract : The modern seedless dessert bananas of commerce are the result of long human selection in one Malaysian species of wild banana, Musa acuminata,. The inhabitants of the tropics (who eat far more than they export) have a much wider choice, for many of their varieties are interspecitic hybrids.
